THEKKADY

Thekkady (Idukki district) is the location of the Periyar National Park, which is an important tourist attraction in the Kerala state of India.Thekkady islocated near to Kerala-Tamilnadu border. The sanctuaryis famous for its dense evergreen, semi-evergreen,moist deciduous forests and savanna grass lands. It is hometoherds of elephants, sambar, tigers, gaur, lion-tailed Macaques and Nilgiri Langurs. Periyar National Park  is often called the Periyar WildlifeSanctuary or Thekkady. It is located high in the Cardamom Hills and Pandalam Hills of the southern Western Ghats along the border with Tamil Nadu.
