ELEPHANT'S BEAUTY IN POORAM
POORAM is an annual festival, which is celebrated in temples dedicated to goddesses Durga or Kali held especially in Valluvanadu area and other adjoining parts of north-central Kerala (Present Palakkad, Thrissur and Malappuram districts) after the summer harvest. In the time of pooram temple elephants are decorated with gold plated caparisons ("nettipattam"), bells, and necklaces. People mounted on the elephants hold tinselled silk parasols ("muttukuda") up high, swaying white tufts ("vencamaram") and peacock feather fans ("alavattam") to the rhythm of the orchestra.(في وقت الفيلة هي ثريسور دورا هاما. زينت الفيلة المعبد بالذهب caparisons ("nettipattam")، وأجراس، والقلائد مطلي. شنت الناس على الفيلة عقد المظلات tinselled الحرير ("muttukuda") عاليا، يتمايل خصلات بيضاء ("vencamaram") والمشجعين ريشة الطاووس ("alavattam") على إيقاع الأوركسترا.)
